Fashion Forecasting Project

So I presented my final project today for fashion forecasting, we had to do two trends- one for womenswear and one for menswear. Both are for Spring/ Summer 2013. I won't post the entire project, but here is part of my womenswear section!

Inspiration:
The dominican republic’s beautiful beaches are used to reflect the need for simplicity, serenity, and peace in the world.
Economy- the recession has made it necessary to recycle previous seasons looks, and to add a new twist to them. After a previous spring/summer of BOLDS BOLDS and more BOLDS, this season is heading towards a more toned down look, Taking inspiration from last years bolds and pairing them with new shimmery, neutral colors to balance the look out. By taking the comfort of flowing fabrics such as Silk, and chiffon, and pairing them with the basic cotton fabrics, and knitted or woven fabrics, this leaves us some room to breathe (Technically and visually).
New trend of understatement: After a year of world crises (earthquakes, Economic downfall, the need to go green), it is becoming more evident that we need to tone down our consumption behaviour . The new less is more approach is a good turnaround from last summers over indulgence of colors, accessories, and extravagance

ONE CLASS DOWN!!!

A SUNNY weekend in London

The past few days have been SUNNY ( a rare occurrence) and about 60 degrees.  So I took a break from doing projects ( sorry, that's why I haven't posted in a while) to stroll around Spittalfields Market and do some shopping. I got some black vintage Levi cutoffs and a really cool shawl/cardigan/thingy. It was handmade and I think it will be great for summer. (Oh, and I got my shoes when I went to Paris about a month ago) at H&M.
 I'm also adding some pictures of the past sunny days, they were taken on my phone so sorry if they're poor quality. I also did a mini- presentation on a fashion icon, and I chose Blondie (Debbie Harry). I'll just put up the mood board, not the whole spiel. I'm back to doing work tomorrow, I have my PR project and Fashion Forecasting project due next week!! I've handed in my British Cultural Studies, Historical & Contemporary Fashion studies, and my Visual Merchandising projects already (no grades yet..) so I'll be waiting for those... Well here are my pics;

Visual Merchandising project

I've been doing my Visual Merchandising project on TOPSHOP. We had to do a store audit and compare it to it's biggest competitor, and then propose a new visual merchandising display for the store. Here's my two ideas for displays.

The first is for a Window display; this will be a VIDEO playing of the latest Spring/Summer 2011 Topshop UNIQUE fashion show. It will be constantly rolling to make the customer feel like they're at the fashion show, and to show them that TOPSHOP really is at the forefront of high street fashion.

The second is a continuation of the first, however this will be in store as a focal point on a wall where the UNIQUE line will be sold. This will have life size cutouts of the runway models and be imposed on a worn white-wash brick wall, with huge feathers to add a pop of the spring colors. The "TOPSHOP UNIQUE SS2011" sign will be lit up in yellow lights.

SO THERE IT IS :)
